What is Stress??

Stress is a feeling of emotional or physical tension. It can come from any event or thought that makes you feel frustrated, angry, or nervous.

Many people deal with stress every day. There are many reasons that lead to bringing stress in human life such as Work, family issues, health concerns, and financial obligations are parts of everyday life that commonly contribute to high-stress levels. Having lots of responsibilities that become hard to manage generates stress.

A small amount of stress can be helpful that eventually leads to the betterment of humankind but if stress stays for too long then it can affect us both physically and mentally.

There are 2 types of Stress:
1-Acute Stress.
2-Chronic Stress.

How to relieve Stress?

Minimizing the chronic stress of daily life as much as possible is very important for overall health. As because chronic stress harms health and increases your risk of health conditions such as heart disease, anxiety disorders, and depression. It’s important to understand that stress isn’t the same as mental health disorders such as anxiety and depression, which require treatment from medical professionals.

There are a few tips below that help to manage the stress of many types:

1. Increase Physical Activity 

If you’re feeling stressed, moving your body on a consistent basis may help.
Regular exercise may help reduce stress and improve symptoms related to common mental health conditions such as anxiety and depression.
Many other studies have shown that engaging in physical activity helps reduce stress levels and improve mood, while idle behavior may lead to increased stress, poor mood, and sleep disturbances. If you’re currently inactive, start with gentle activities such as walking or biking. Choosing an activity that you enjoy may help increase your chances of sticking to it in the long term. There are many stress-relieving exercises that should be followed.

2. Following a healthy diet 

Your diet affects every aspect of your health, including your mental health. Minimizing your intake of highly processed foods and beverages and eating more whole foods such as vegetables, fruits, beans, fish, nuts, and seeds can help ensure that your body is properly nourished. In turn, this may improve your resilience to stress.

3. Minimize phone use and screen time  

Though we live a life where Smartphones, computers, and tablets are an unavoidable part for everyone. While these devices are often necessary, using them too often may increase stress levels. Spending too much time in front of screens in general is associated with lower psychological well-being and increased stress levels in both adults and kids Furthermore, screen time may negatively affect sleep, which may also lead to increased stress levels.

4. Meditation

Meditation doesn’t eliminate stress; it manages it. Although stress cannot be eliminated completely, through meditation, we can learn to deal with it in a more accepting way by rethinking how we view it. So start doing meditation at least for 6-10 mins daily.

5. Take time to spend with your family and friends

6. You don’t have to be hard on yourself
