Mr. Roy, 22 years old and pursuing MA in English, was taken to my clinic on June 30, 2012, by his parents from a neighboring district after he lost his ability to speak following the unexpected passing of his uncle. He wasn’t able to speak a single word for 9 days. During that time, he consulted a physician who recommended a CT scan of the brain, revealing no irregularities. When I asked about how it began, he struggled greatly but could not articulate a single word. He only wrote to express his fear about what will happen if his parents die. His father informed me that he was once brave enough to confront any issue, but following his brother’s passing, he can no longer stay alone in his room and always desires their presence.
I selected these rubrics: ‘Aphasia fear after’, which includes two remedies cupr met; hyoc, in the synthesis repertory, and ‘clinging children in’, which has four remedies, ant-t; cina; cupr and sanicula; both of these rubrics point to only cuprum met.
June 30, 2012: I recommended Cuprum met 30/9 doses, TDS for three days, in addition to placebo for two weeks. After seven days, he began to talk and showed signs of progress. Only cuprum met was required; no other medication was necessary for his complete recovery.
