Master Mahanta, a 3-month-old infant, was brought to me by his parents on September 1, 2004. He had been experiencing extreme constipation since he was born. He was unable to pass stool. The stiff, hard stool was difficult to get out. It appears and then recedes. With external assistance, such as an enema, he was able to evacuate stool once in every seven days. Now and again he let out a loud cry and his stomach was stiff.
September 1, 2004: I recommended Calc ost 200/4 doses followed by Nihilinum for 14 days based on the following symptoms:
- Obesity
- Hard abdomen
- Cries of screaming
- General constipation.
Unfortunately, the patient did not show any improvement after I waited for 2 months, and the child was already 5 months old, still experiencing the same issue. I was somewhat confused and attempted to search for symptoms but could not discover anything further. Once again, I analyzed the case using Phatak’s repertory with these symptoms:
- Constipation absolute
- Constipation hard faces from
- Constipation inactivity of rectum
- And constipation stool recede
From those symptoms, only one medication emerged, which is Opium.
October 24, 2004: I recommended Opium 30/4 dosages along with Sac lactis for 14 days. Following the use of that medication, he was completely fine. I keep in regular touch with them, and he has been doing well until recently.
