ALLERGIC ASTHMA

A 17-year-old patient, Sarat Mondol, visited me on March 16, 2000. He had been experiencing allergic asthma since childhood and underwent standard treatment from several paediatricians and chest specialists without significant improvement. For ten or eleven years, he managed allergic asthma with traditional treatment, yet the condition remained unchanged.

He experienced repeated occurrences of coughing, wheezing, breathing difficulty, fast breathing, and a sense of chest constriction. A few additional symptoms that I deemed important for homeopathic prescribing included:

  • His symptoms worsened when lying on his right side.
  • He experienced excessive sweating and was unable to handle the heat.
  • He enjoyed sweet, chilled food and meat.
  • He was extremely stubborn; altering his viewpoint was nearly impossible once he expressed it, regardless of what occurred.
  • He sensed that no one was worthy of his attention; arrogant and disdainful. He would deliberately go against his father’s requests.
  • He was under the delusion that he was a distinguished person.

Prescription overview:

March 16, 2000: Tuberculinum 200/6 doses were recommended together with Rubrum 200 for 14 days. In such instances of asthma or bronchitis, where symptoms like coughing, wheezing, rales, chest tightness, and sneezing appear in children or adults, I would prefer Tuberculinum as a primary remedy if at least two or more homeopathic indications back that medicine. In this case, the signs for Tuberculinum included a strong craving for sweets, significant stubbornness, and the patient would consistently act against his father’s requests, reflecting opposing parental traits, with only Tuberculinum noted as the remedy.

April 1, 2000: The patient mentioned some progress, so I prescribed only Nihilinum 200 for a month. However, the patient did not show any further improvement after a month of waiting with Nihilinum. So, I needed to re-evaluate the case file and prescribe a different medication.

April 29, 2000: I recommended Phosphorus 200/6 doses, followed by Nihilinum for 14 days, based on symptoms that included:

  • A desire for cold food, meat, and sweets,
  • Stubbornness,
  • Arrogance,
  • A delusion of being a distinguished person.

All these signs collectively suggest phosphorus. After April 29, 2000, the patient stopped coming to see me and remained silent for two months.

July 6, 2000: There was a return of symptoms, so he reached out to me again after a two-month interval. I gave the medicine phosphorus at a higher potency, specifically 1m/6 doses, along with Rubrum for 14 days. Once again, he ceased to visit me and stayed silent for three years.
October 20, 2003: The patient visited me for a different issue and mentioned that he has not experienced any asthma problems since the last prescription.
